An Unexplored Tourism Gem

A tourism gem that has yet to be widely discovered, the Azerbaijan country is a land of unique travel destinations. With an area like Baku showcasing both futuristic and historical sides, to a fire that never stops burning at Yanar Dag, Azerbaijan is full of new sights and culture which you won’t often see.

Adjacent to Turkey, lies a tourism spot that has yet to be renowned. Referred to as the land of fire, the Azerbaijan country presents many unique travel destinations, most of which are relevant to fire. To begin with, Baku is a particularly fascinating area within this country. As the capital city of Azerbaijan, it features a futuristic side that exists side by side to its historical one, providing a captivating experience that transports you through different eras as you explore.

Its historical side is called Icherisheher, the place where a treasure trove of historical buildings exist, including palaces and mosques. Along these streets, you may see colorful carpet vendors and silver merchants plying their trades, creating a unique and vibrant scene. Despite its rich history however, Icherisheher has embraced modern tourism with a variety of hotels and cafés within the area. In contrast, the futuristic side of Baku is epitomized by the Flame Towers. And if you fancy LED light shows, these towers come to life every night with animations of fire or the Azerbaijani flag, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

If you wish to explore a more natural side of Baku however, take a trip to Absheron and find Yanar Dag, the ‘burning mountain’. Even through snow and rain, the flame in this mountain continues to burn, owing to the wealth of gas in the area. The best possible time to visit Yanar Dag is in the evening as the fire is most visible at that time, and you may fully appreciate its fiery brilliance.

Other than Baku and Yanar Dag, there are still many scenic views to explore in Azerbaijan, such as Candy Cane Mountain in the Guba-Baku highway, or the famous Lake Goygol located near Ganja city. Witnessing them firsthand will definitely be a sight to treasure.
