Open to the public until 18 August 2024 at Unicorn Gallery; the NEO-PANEN RAYA exhibition offers a unique perspective on the tradition through the eyes of the younger generation.
The classic panen raya painting holds a significant meaning in our society. The paintings, often seen in offices and big family houses, symbolize hope, abundant fortune, and success.
In the hope of passing the tradition to the younger generation, Aldridge Tjiptarahardja arranged a contemporary exhibition at the Unicorn Gallery Jakarta where artists can freely reimagine the timeless landscape with their own unique touches. The artists are Arbi Rangkito, Aziz GGG, Arya Sudrajat, Dham!, Rudy Mardjianto, Saskia Sagita Sakanti, Soegik Primayoga, and Toto Sunu.
You will be surprised by the amusing combination of modern characters, such as Astro Boy, and a serene rice field landscape in Arya Sudradjat’s painting, or mesmerized by Prasetyo Agung Ginanjar’s abstract painting of the rice field.
