Water is a crucial element that can’t be separated from our lives, whether as a necessity or an agent of change. It can be both a blessing and a disaster, depending on how we adjust our lives around it. Yet, in Indonesia, the future of water is often neglected, where water reserves such as lakes are seen as potential tourism spots rather than essential ecosystems.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Despite this, grassroots groups and individuals continue to dream of creating changes. Teras Kamala in Depok is one of the communities dedicated to preserving water for the future. Its ambitious missions include raising awareness about the importance of green open spaces, educating families about water management in households, and revitalizing situ or small lakes in Depok.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Managed by only four individuals, Teras Kamala has significantly impacted the local community. Through their activities, young volunteers have gained a deeper understanding of the role of water in their lives and have actively contributed to improving water sources and the situ.<\/p>\n
In August and September, Teras Kamala will hold an annual water festival, Festival [C]air, that will coincide with Indonesia’s Independence Day. This time, Teras Kamala is calling young kids and adults to participate in research about biodiversity and water quality. The research results will be exhibited at the festival in September.<\/p>\n
